Program Overview

Established in 2006, the Amgen Scholars Program is an undergraduate summer research experience hosted at 25 premier educational and research institutions across the United States, Europe, Asia, Australia and Canada. Participants benefit by conducting a research project under top faculty, participating in seminars and networking events and taking part in a symposium in their respective region. Throughout the program, participants meet peers, present their research findings, learn about biotechnology and hear from leading scientists. Financial support for students is a critical component of the program, which helps ensure that eligible students, regardless of income, can participate.

Our Program Goals

The Amgen Scholars Program seeks to increase learning and networking opportunities for students committed to pursuing science or engineering careers. Amgen Scholars learn to collaborate effectively in research settings while investigating areas of research interest within a specific discipline. As a result, Scholars gain practical skills and knowledge for their graduate study and post-graduate careers. Thousands of program alumni have completed their undergraduate studies and are currently pursuing or completed an advanced graduate degree in a scientific field. Program alumni are also employed in scientific fields across 40 countries.
